Jawai Leopard Sanctuary is one of the greatest spots in Rajasthan to see leopards. It is near to the Jawai Bandh, which is home to a large leopard population. The best thing about this area is that there is no sign of poaching and there is complete coexistence between the humans and the leopards. They do not just come out on the rocks in the winters to bask, they are out there all the time. And thats why, in Jawai, the chances of spotting a leopard are 95% to 100% throughout the year. But while the human residents are satiated of their thirst for the time being, the over 350 mugger crocodiles for whom the Jawai dam is home, are struggling to survive his dam covers an area of 13 sq.km. This is the biggest manmade dam in western Rajasthan. Jawai Bandh is attracting numerous tourists due to the rich flora & fauna of the region. Jawai is not less than the heaven for wildlife enthusiasts due to endless opportunities of exploring wildlife. Built over the Jawai River (Tributary of the Luni River), this dam is the largest dam of Western Rajasthan. Jawai Bandh is a dwelling for leopards, birds, hyena, white fox, sloth bear, jungle cat, nilgai, crocodiles, and other animals. The Jawai River is a tributary of the Luni River and Jawai Bandh is the largest dam of western Rajasthan providing water to Jodhpur and other nearby areas. Our Jawai Castle Healing Retreat is 17th century structure and this castle is located on the foot edge of the highest peak hill in the area. About the Host

Dr. Krishan Pal Singh (KP) has done his doctorate degree in History of Water Management in Rajasthan from 10th-18th century AD and M.Phil. in Arts in Ancient Indian History and Culture. His masters from Deccan College, Pune, which is one of the best institutes for Archaeological Sciences in the World. His native village is at the heart of the famous “Jawai Leopard Sanctuary” and the Bisalpur is about 2 kilometers from Jawai Dam. He is recipient of several national awards in the field of Archeology, Water Management, Museology, Heritage, History and Culture. He was Research Fellow with prestigious institutions such as Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi, National Mission of Monuments and Antiquities from Archaeological Survey of India, New Delhi. Research Institute of Humanity and Nature, Kyoto- JAPAN. He is successful social entrepreneur and do extensive organic farming on the 15-hectare farm known as “Darjawala Farm” located around Koliwara village, near Sumerpur. He has also co-founded “Aravalli College” in Sumerpur. He also owns a 17th century A.D. large heritage havelli in Bisalpur, which has been very well maintained and his mission to develop it as destination of class to benefit nature lovers. His passion is archeological investigation, nature living, education, farming and travel. He is one of the mentor for the Healing Cup Mission.

  • Rabodi : This is made up of same ingredients of Vadiya, but little soft and shape is like chips. Mostly, it can be prepared in yellow mustard oil and red chili flavored.
  • Red Mutton : This is most famous recipe of this area.
  • Dal-Bati : This is most common and famous food of Rajasthan, but this is having long history beyond… this is regionally divided in the dal (millets) Moong Dal in Western Rajasthan, Urad Dal in South Eastern Rajasthan, and Toor/Mix Dal in Central and Eastern Rajasthan. Bati is made up of Barley, Wheat and Maize it depends on regional availability.
  • Churma : This is most common sweet dish in the region, and that is most favorable recipe worldwide. Made up of Mix floor of wheat and barley.
